This turns a short clip into an animated GIF that plays on its own wherever a picture can go, which is how a demo gets into a chat message, a bug report or a document that will not take a video. GIFs get large quickly, so a few seconds at a modest size works far better than a long clip.

Questions
Why is my GIF so large?
Because a GIF stores whole frames rather than only what changed. Length is the biggest cost, then width, then frame rate. Trimming a few seconds off does more than any other change.
Will the sound be kept?
No. A GIF has no sound, so audio is dropped when the clip is converted.
What video formats can I use?
Whatever your browser can already play, which in practice means MP4 and WebM, and often MOV clips from a phone.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The clip is read and the GIF is built in this browser tab, frame by frame, so the video never leaves your device.
