What this tool is for
Cropping cuts a picture down to the part you actually want and throws the rest away. It straightens up a photo taken in a hurry, removes whatever wandered into the edge of the frame, and is the usual way to meet a required shape such as a square or a banner.

Questions
Can I crop to an exact shape, like a square?
Yes. The frame can be held to a fixed proportion so the result comes out square or at whatever shape you need.
Does cropping reduce the quality of what is left?
No. The pixels you keep are untouched. The picture has fewer of them than before, so the file is smaller.
Can I get the cropped-off part back later?
Not from the cropped copy, since that area is gone from it. Your original file is untouched, so keep it if you may want to crop differently.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The crop happens in this browser tab, so the picture stays on your device.
