What this tool is for
Merging joins several PDFs into one file, in the order you choose. It is the usual fix when a contract, a form or a scanned set arrives as separate documents and has to go out as a single attachment. Pages are copied across as they are, so text stays selectable and nothing is flattened into a picture.
How to merge PDF files
- Add the PDFs you want to join. You can pick several at once.
- Drag them into the order you want. The pages of the first file come first.
- Merge them, then save the file that comes back.
Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The merging happens in this browser tab, on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, which is why it still works with your connection turned off.
Is there a limit on how many files I can merge, or how big they can be?
There is no fixed limit. What you can merge depends on how much memory your device has free, because the work happens there rather than on a server. Long scanned documents are the ones most likely to run short.
Does merging lose any quality?
No. Pages are copied over untouched, so text, images and fonts come through exactly as they were. The merged file is about the size of the originals added together.
Can I merge a PDF that has a password on it?
Not while it is locked. Take the password off first with the remove a PDF password tool, then merge the result.
