What this tool is for
This takes a known password off a PDF so it opens without one. The usual reason is a statement or payslip that arrives locked every month and has to be filed, printed or passed on, where typing the password each time is more nuisance than protection.
How to remove a password from a PDF
- Add the locked PDF.
- Type the password that currently opens it.
- Save the unlocked copy.
Questions
Can this open a PDF when I do not know the password?
No. It removes a password you can already supply. Breaking into a document you cannot open is not something this does.
Is my original file changed?
No. You get a new copy with no password on it, and the locked original stays exactly as it was.
Does the password I type go anywhere?
No. It is used here in the browser to open the file and never leaves your device, which matters when the password is one you reuse elsewhere.
